TATA ‘No Place Like Home’- Professional Development opportunity

If 2020 taught us anything it was that there really is no place like home. We were restricted from travelling and many of us spent more time at home than ever before. The effects of this become evident in classrooms and across the arts community; there is a noticeable emphasis upon place and home attuned curiosities, perspectives and practices. We are seeing students, artists and teachers paying closer attention to what it means to live a life in lutruwita / Tasmania.

We invite you to join us for three separate evenings of place-making in the north west, north and south of the state, where we will explore the ways artists, teachers and students actively contribute to this.

In collaboration with Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG), Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG) and Burnie Coastal Arts Group, TATA are offering three opportunities for art teachers to be part of these conversations in the south, north and north west.

Registration is essential to ensure compliance with COVID safety measures at these venues.

TATA members can attend these events for free. If you need to renew your membership, please head to TATA Membership prior to registering

Tasmanian contemporary artist Alastair Mooney will speak about his NEST exhibition at QVMAG, and we’ll hear from a Senior Curator in Visual Art and Design to engage us in conversation about what's happening at QVMAG. We will round out our evening with ACARA Arts Curriculum Specialist Robyn Carmody, who will provide us with a visual art attuned update on the 2020 Australian Curriculum Review, with the draft of proposed revisions being open for public comment from 29th April – 8th July.
